This framework summarizes eight types of involvement that make a difference to student learning in Ontario.  A school council focused on generating activity focused in these eight areas will likely have a positive impact on student learning.

The framework is designed to assist School Councils in Ontario organize activities that will impact student learning.  Combined with the school plan for continuous improvement, it provides an effective guide for assisting parents and educators to work cooperatively towards improved student learning.

The basis for this framework is the work of Dr. Joyce Epstein, working out of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

There are several modifications for Ontario, which are highlighted in the chart below.

To the left are buttons to describe each of the types of involvement, with the challenges, examples and common methods for addressing key issues.

This section will grow and evolve to contain specific ideas for each of the types of involvement ... so drop back from time to time.
